1. Don\u2019t Burn Trees to Fight Climate Change\u2014Let Them Grow<\/a><\/h4>\n

McKibben, a former New Yorker <\/i>staff writer and the Schumann Distinguished Scholar in Environmental Studies at Middlebury College, argues that cutting trees and using them (in various forms) as fuel is not a solution to climate change.<\/p>\n

This process does not immediately cancel out carbon emissions when trees regrow and thus absorb the carbon. Instead, he argues, the process of absorption happens over time as the trees regrow.<\/p>\n

The problem, he states, is that this process is entirely too long, and it will be too late as damage to the climate will have already occurred.<\/p>\n

2. Urban Forests Are Crucial for Combating Climate Change, but Planting More Trees Is Easier Said Than Done<\/a><\/h4>\n
